I had to work today, and Chris did as well. I noticed that my inspection sticker on my car was expired so Chris offered to get my new one, the only drawback here was that I had to drive his truck to and from work. It shouldn't be a big deal because it is a stick shift, just like my Mazda 3, but it drives soooo much differently. The stick is much bigger, not to mention driving a truck is a lot different than driving a little car. I got over it though, and actually had fun driving it. After work, I went over to Mom's house, and Chris met me there. Chris spent some time with Rex, while I was able to run some errands with Mom, Mariah, and Yaya. It was really good just to spend some time with the women in my fam. When we returned to the house, Rex had dinner prepared, and Clara showed up. We ate yummy BBQ, veggies, potato wedges and had great conversation. Matthew was there too, and, of course, made us laugh like crazy. After dinner, Matt left, and we taught Clara how to play Mexican Train (a domino game). Needless to say, Clara learned very quickly, and she and Mom kicked my and Rex's butts!!! (Chris helped Mom and Clara, but didn't actually play). We had sooo much fun! We don't get to spend much time with Clara, so it was a treat to spend half the day with her.
Anyway, it was a great day, and I look forward to another great day tomorrow for the Super Bowl!

Ten Items or Less
Chris and I went grocery shopping this evening! YAY!!!! We have not gone grocery shopping in almost a month and a half!!! :O (Well, we did pick up some milk, and butter, and bananas and stuff every now and then, but we didn't do our monthly shopping for over a month and a half.) I love grocery shopping. Chris and I ALWAYS go together and really have fun doing it. I usually make the list and check things off as we get them (I also have a bad habit of putting extra things in the cart :]). Usually we spend about $160 dollars a month on groceries, but tonight we spent $240!!!! AHHH! We NEVER spend that much! We had to buy some cleaning supplies, body wash, face cleanser, and other stuff like that which we don't usually buy every month, so its really no big deal. Also, we have been trying to buy better quality products and not just what is cheaper. A couple months ago, Chris and I started buying a different kind of seafood everytime with do our shopping. This is pretty neat because not only do we get to eat something yummy, but we are learning new ways to prepare the seafood. Last month we bought some scallops (MY FAVORITE SEAFOOD), and this month we bought some shrimp, and MORE scallops! I can't wait to find a new recipe!
ANYWAYYYYY, we had a great shopping excursion, and lots of delish treats to last us a month!
Thanks for reading!

He's come over to the dark side!
I am a LOST fanatic, so I was incredibly excited when my hubby finally agreed to watch the first episode of the first season of Lost with me. He liked it, I think. Tonight he even asked me if we were gonna watch the second episode! Yay! I will keep everyone updated on our Lost viewings!

This and That
Chris and I have been super busy lately with both of our jobs, his bowling, my working out, praise team practice, and still leaving a little bit of time for our friends that our schedules have been jam-packed! I love that we are so active, but I get sooooo exhausted! We have been cooking significantly less since I have been working, mostly because I wanna crash when I get home. So we ate 50 piece nuggets (the first time I spelled that, I spelled it "nugger" HA HA HA), and broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, and corn. Those were pity veggies, by the way, to make me feel not-so-gulity! FYI, we did not eat all of the nuggets!
I think it's funny that I just read Megan's blog which talks about her family's dinner for tonight. I used to be such a good house-wifey. Honestly, if I could still be a house-wifey, I totally would be. I don't think God's incredible plan for women was to work in a bank. I believe I have a much deeper calling....but what can you do when you are 30k in debt from school.
I am looking forward to this weekend. This will be the first Saturday I have off from work in a long time! YAY! I hope I can just sit on my butt all weekend and watch Snapped!

A Large Price for Beauty.
Yesterday, Chris and I attended our niece's first birthday. We left the party around 6:30 pm and drove home (separately because I had gone to the party after I got out of work). We were driving down a two-lane road, and I was just overtaken by the moon. It was BEAUTIFUL! It was full and yellow! It was so amazing that I thought it would be a good idea to take a picture of it with my phone. What I didn't realize, at the time, was that it is very difficult to focus on an object, take the picture and drive at the same time! I totally swerved into the oncoming lane and almost hit a car coming at me! Praise God that I saw his headlights in time. The things I do for a little bit of beauty! I looked at the picture shortly after that, and it was blurry. Crap.
The funniest thing about it all was that Chris was driving behind me the whole time, and when we got home, he was like, "Are you okay?" He saw the whole thing and thought I was crazy.
I'm so cool.

Beautiful Day
A few weeks ago, Chris and I visited Grannie (Chris's grandma) up in Kingsland. One morning we woke up and decided to have breakfast in Marble Falls (a neighboring town) at a really yummy little restaurant called The Bluebonnet Cafe. On our way there, I was so captivated by the beautiful clouds in the sky. I thought I would share what I saw.
Enjoy!

Enjoy!

Team Shaw + 1
It is official: we have a new addition to Team Shaw!!!
Chris and I have our first PET!!!! For Christmas, my dear friend Nikki gave us a BETA FISH!!! I have been wanting one for a while to put in my ivy vase. When Chris and I came home last night from Austin, he was chilling on the bar in my vase!! I was ecstatic!
I thought because he was going to be in our kitchen, that I should name him something "kitchen-y", so I was going through all of my favorite foods (in my head), and then I thought it would be cool to name him after a spice. I immediately went to my spice rack, and the first spice I read was "Chili Flakes"!! Ha Ha Ha! I thought that was ridiculous, and overlooked it, but as I was laying in bed last night, I kept thinking about that name and laughing. Soooo I decided on "Chili Flakes" for his name. Totally gay, I know, but whatever, if you don't like it, get your own fish. By the way, he is red with a little bit of blue.
So no baby yet. We aren't really trying for a baby because we would like to realistically wait a couple years, but that is not to say that we aren't practicing!
PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!!!!

Peace on Earth
Today Chris and I went to church (like every Sunday) and our pastor talked about Peace. He mentioned that Peace is not necessarily defined as the world defines it. It is so much deeper. He explained that to have peace, you have to have complete trust in the Lord. You have to trust that he is holding you in his hands, and that he will take care of you and provide you with everything you need. How comforting is that? Anyway, I really think that message was for me.
On another note, I finished all my Christmas shopping for Chris!!! Whewww! He is kind of difficult to shop for. Last year, I bought Chris some pajama pants, a sweater, and some other clothing, and while he was happy and thankful for his gifts, I know (now) that he would rather have gotten something else. Chris really isn't into clothes. He would be just fine in a pair of track pants and a tee shirt. It didn't hurt my feelings (because they were really nice clothes! ha ha), but it definitely was a learning experience for me.
This year, I bought Chris....(drumroll, please) a SUPER nice bowling bag!! I know, it definitely isn't something that would excite me, but Chris LOVES bowling. He has a bag right now, but it is super ghetto (I think it is actually a cooler on wheels)! The bag I got him can hold both of his bowling balls, his bowling shoes, and all of his little accessories. It was very pricey, but I know he will LOVE it, and that's all that matters to me. Besides the bowling bag, I bought him a really nice Nautica wallet, and an electric shaver. I know that he is gonna be really excited!! OHHH, and lastly, I bought him some Hannah Montana paraphanelia for his stocking (I know, I know, I am feeding his unhealthy Hannah Montana obsession...oh well!)
I just have a few more people to shop for, and then I will be smooth sailing into the holidays! Yay!

RIP
It was determined today that the remains found near the Anthonys' house were indeed those of Caylee Anthony. How sad. My heart hurts for that precious little girl. I guess the good news is that there is closure, in the sense that no one is wondering where she is. I still think her mom DEFINITELY had something to do with it. I'm not a mother, but I cannot fathom how someone could have done ANYTHING like that to their child. Sad day.

It's Beginnng to Look a lot like Christmas!
Hello, its been a few days since I have blogged, but it is midnight, so I am going to make this a short one. Its starting to feel a lot like Christmas! Chris and I put our tree up a week ago, and Chris is going to put lights up outside our house this Sunday! I am super excited about that! Cute side note: Chris came home last Friday and said, "I have a surprise for you!" Chris had bought the Christmas lights as a surprise for me, but he came home with one strand of about 12 different kind of lights! He said that he wanted me to pick out the lights I wanted! He's so sweet. I think we have decided on blue icicles and some other blue LED lights. Lastly, Chris and I went to my work Christmas party on Saturday and had a GREAT time! We had the opportunity to get all dressed up, and it was really fun! Here is a picture of us before we left for the party.
